Fifth Av. evening commute - strong reds and lower viewpoint. I continue to analyze psychedelic concert posters from the late 1960s which are influencing my BB shots.

A good place to start your study of these posters is the work of Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse. Peace.

Heading to the E

5th Av. stairs, going down. To the right of subject is a jewelry shop and to the left a newsstand. Further down is a Subway's sandwich shop and in front is a frame shop that sells a lot of Warhol reprints. That shop cashes in on tourist traffic going to MoMA half a block away. I see Jackie or Marilyn or Elvis in the shop window daily.

Evening commute - cannot wait for the spring when living is easier.

Uptown and Down

The top image taken on the 5th Av. uptown platform that is one level further down. Brighter image is on the cherry downtown platform. Closer to the escalator and much better lit.

For me they are stations of the cross in the morn and at night.

Twenty Nine Winks

E train nap last night during rush hour commute....lucky seat on a crowded train. I continue to study psychedelic concert posters form the mid to late 1960s....this has a bit of an acid tinge.

"Dark star crashes, pouring its light into ashes.
Reason tatters, the forces tear loose from the axis.
Searchlight casting for faults in the clouds of delusion.
Shall we go, you and I while we can
Through the transitive nightfall of diamonds?

Mirror shatters in formless reflections of matter.
Glass hand dissolving to ice petal flowers revolving.
Lady in velvet recedes in the nights of goodbye.
Shall we go, you and I while we can
Through the transitive nightfall of diamonds?"

Step Out, Go Right

On an Uptown Train

5th Av, uptown platform - I move east and the subject goes west, she must be heading for the Madison Av. exit a long city block away, underground. A dark corridor encounter, with the E train ready to depart towards CitiCorp.

Escalator at Grand Central subway station. There are those who walk and those who stand on escalators. And then there are those who despite four flights take the stairs that run alongside.

My Friday Night Commute

With all the promises and dreams that come with the start of a weekend.....

On the Shuttle

Between Times Square and Grand Central Station, a warm one-stop shuttle train.

Grand Central and Times Square Subway Stations

Work required me to go to a meeting near Grand Central Station and then to take the subways midtown by way of Times Square. Rainy icy morning - sleet and slush and commuters dressed to meet the day's hazards.

From the Ghost of Christmas Past

I will be copying over some older images to these blogs since I think they deserve categorization.

Preparing to go up the staircase, lower level, 5th Av e train platform. They put in new fluorescent fixtures here - - it has changed the lighting. It is harsher than before. A crowd slows down traffic.

It pays to be patient.

Other times, life continues to blur.

Blue Light Special

The top staircase, almost at street level on East 53rd Street, This is close to Fifth Ave and a half a block from MoMA. I used to work above this station, now our offices have moved a block west.

Going Down

Bottom of escalator at 5th Av, E train station. I am heading up to the office as a smaller percentage go into the subways. A reverse commuter shown here, or someone out on a lark.

It's four flight to the top. 5th Av is one of the deeper subway stops.

NFL Playoffs and Red Scarf

Man sitting next to me - New York Times back page describing this weekends; playoff games. Football approaches the Super Bowl...slowly. Woman in red scarf - the BB shines with reds and motion and blur.

Moving uptown quickly, maybe 9:20 AM.

Penn E Train Northbound Platform

Morning commute - some people hug the wall and others are more likely to walk near the edge of the platform. I stand a safe distance in - never close enough for a push....

Old and New

I have decided to post my Blackeberry New York subway images separately from those for Penn Station. Here are two BBs - the top image was taken on the 5th Avenue E train platform a few weeks ago when I was experimenting with a dirty lens. The one below was taken last night at Herald Square station near the token booth.

Subway tokens are no longer used but I still call them token booths.

This blog is named after a baseball World Series between two new York teams where fans could use subways to get to all games. Before 19657 it was the New York Yankees (the Bronx Bombers) against the Brooklyn Dodgers or the New York Giants. Now It would be the Yankees against the New York Mets. The Yankees won the last time they played. It is a relatively rare event.....
